What started as a hopeful homestand after sweeping the Phillies ended with a sour note after getting swept by the Blue Jays.

Where exactly do the Mets go from here with a big three-game set against division rival Braves?

Although frustration might be building within the club and fan base, there are still reasons for be hopeful that the season won’t be a complete wash.

But time is ticking and the team with one of the highest payrolls of all-time has to start playing up to its potential.

Nelson Figueroa is joined by “Subway to Shea” podcast host Anthony Rivera to breakdown what we saw from the Amazins’ in this disappointing home sweep.

Amazin’ But True Podcast with Nelson Figueroa & Anthony Rivera:

  • INCONSISTENT OFFENSE: The Mets scored just two runs in their games Friday and Saturday before a solo home run barrage on Sunday, but even that wasn’t even to salvage a game from the Blue Jays. With big time hitters like Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, Jeff McNeil and Francisco Alvarez, the offense needs to step it up to help the pitching staff.
  • SENGA STRUGGLES: For the first time in his Major League career Kodai Senga pitched on four days of rest. Although he said it didn’t affect his performance, there’s reason to believe he wasn’t as sharp as he’s been in the past.
  • BIG BRAVES SERIES: Things aren’t going to get much easier for the Mets as they face the Braves this week, including games against Bryce Elder and Spencer Strider. This will be a measuring stick for the Amazins and their struggling offense. Does Figgie have a bold prediction for this series?
  • METS HOF WEEKEND RECAP: Gary Cohen, Howie Rose, Al Leiter and Howard Johnson were all inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame this past weekend. Who are some of the names that might be in the next class of inductees?
